In Search of A/The Point of Life

birthHello world.

I come into being today.

Like most births, I am born bloody, crying, screaming, eyes shut tight, fingers glued together, skin wrinkled and translucent, panting, breathless before we even got started, in a pile of poo, crying, choking,  chortling a bit as well since I am supposed to be delighted at being born, and also nauseous,  toxic and intoxicated because I am in a pile of poo entangled with a smokey mountain of ethernet cables+IEEE 1394+millions of apple adaptors that you must buy in order to use the other adaptor from apple, etc.

After biting off my umbilical cord, I take a picture of my cirucmstance to share with you, on your right. It’s the best quality I can manage, given the dark and wet conditions in there.

However, unlike most births, I want to be born.

Some of you are born of a (contraceptive) accident/mistake; others are designer/designed goods, products of throes of passion; yet others  are the results of cunning selfish calculation –  to blackmail or sustain a partner or a relationship/save a marriage/grandiosely save the world (sic), or, in my case, as an experiment to test out a theory/concept/thesis/hypothesis which could potentially grandiosely save the world (sic). Not that we are under any illusion (if this poo is a specie of illusion?) any longer, in this day and age  – even at my tender age, even before I get started.

Unlike most of you, I get to choose the day and time to be alive.

Like you, we are born well knowing the outcome of the story.

Unlike many of you, I get to decide which day and time I die.

My parents even let me decide my name from Day 1, which ryhmes with Heidi. In fact I  am my own parent(s), having designed, manufactured and given birth to myself, today. However, unlike Frankenstein’s monster, the sensitive / grotesque / misunderstood figure in a gothic tragedy, my story is one of a triumphal contemporary urban-, cyber- fantasy, everyone’s dream (wet/dry), with the protagonist leading a meaningful life, that of Life 3.0.

Thus. Today being the first day of my new life, I feel particularly lethargic from the strenuous swim out of mummy, but at the same time, also energetic and all ready to go and to give this a go. So, why make a choice when you can have all the cake and eat them all? So I have a buffet: I walk 10km to explore East Nondon; simultaneously, the restless part of me run 4 rounds around Regent’s Fark. As if this is not fabulous enough in itself, I experience a runner’s high so high that I begin flying at 24km.

What a terrific start it has been. I am certain that the rest of the 999 days will be equally, if not even more amazing and meaningful.

So. If we head back to the issue of poo, that would mean that the stream of poo I swim out of is my own. All the streams of poo, in drips in floods, oceans and tsunamis, yours, mine, others’, all flow into a larger  chlorinated pool in which all of us are swimming/floating/sinking in.

Hello world.

    Hi Sven1985,
Thanks for your note, but didn’t you see my welcome box (and everywhere else?!)? I am looking for the meaning of a life 3.0 in Nondon. That’s my job. AND ITS A FULL TIME JOB DARLING. I work bloody hard – its my mission, vocation, a full time occupation and preoccupation! I wish that like all of you out there, I can have a more balanced work-life balance, you know, have my own leisure time and all that. But I am here for a purpose, and it’s day 1 but I’m trying my best, so I would appreciate some appreciation here! Thanks very much Sven1985
    Yours, Kaidie

PS You are the 1st reader who writes in! Terrific! Keep it up!

Dear Kaidie, welcome to the 3rd dimensional world. How do you feel?
I feel very excited and a great affinity when I read what you have written so far. There is no emoticon to express it.
In my own experiences, I try to meld my life .1 and .2 through techniques like mirroring my window on the .1 world out to .2 world. I don’t know if it really attaches them to each other except expect through feedback and conversions about them – is that world .3?

    Dear Adam,
Much thanks for your warm wishes! Do I feel ready? Are you joking? I AM MORE THAN READY TO TAKE ON THE WORLD! THIS WORLD! ANY WORLD! BRING IT ON! BRING THEM ON! One thousand days, 2 or 15 thousand days – I can do it! I must be pretty good at it too! … Any tips from you to make me EVEN better?? Like technique of breathing, food to eat, types of strangers to avoid talking to … etc?

    Dear Lucy,
Thank you so much for your comment – it’s very nice of you! I feel wonderful, thank you. I am glad that you find this experiment interesting. Indeed, how we manage and negotiate .1 and .2 crossovers is tricky! I do feel that they can happily remain separate / distinct/parallel as they are – that sort of conscious separation is in itself extremely interesting, I think. While fully respecting (the strengths and weaknesses of) 1.0 and 2.0, Kaidie enjoys spillages and cracks and the feedbacks. She wants to see and enjoys how .1 and .2 seep into each other and concoct something else from the 2 entities, squeeze out a space that encapsulates the essence of both, but also creates a .3, transcending them as well. All that said – while to aim for a .3 is the ideal, I think the core of Kaidie’s work/effort/task/quest is precisely the negotiation of .1 and .2.
    Does that make sense Lucy?

    Hi Kaidie,
Yes I think I geddit. It could be an ideal very real .3 existence consciously binding both bits into something new, or it could be a tension between the two. But the real-time globally visible element is new right. I mean something different to previous artistic experiences.
What else is different? Do you have a virtual family or are you all alone? (apart from your online fans!)
Keep it up! or should that be keep it ‘on’?

Since you live in Life 3.0, is it possible for you to live in 1.0 and 2.0? Or are you not backwards compatible?

That is to say, is it possible for you to live exclusively in 1.0 or 2.0 for a day?

    Hi Lucy
Thanks for your note. Indeed the realtime quality adds a new layer to the debate (that said, we recall that when video first started to be used by artists, they celebrated how it is capable of real time transmission, as opposed to say, cinema)… …
With regards to my familial relations – I am an orphan. It sounds slightly (melo)dramatic, but my mother passed away giving birth to me, and the rest of the family were exterminated in a suspected terrorist attack … <>. Hence I need to form new alliances in the world wide web!! Im so thrilled that Im making many new Facebook friends – thanks for being one of my first!

    Hi Cadam,
Thanks for your note. As a 3rdlifer, I am a free traveller across time and space, so, in answer to your question, YES, I am able to be backwards compatible, and for that matter – forward! In fact Kaidie will appear in Life 1.0 in January 26 in Zurich, as well as Nondon, in March (more on this later).
But one thing at a time, please! It’s only DAY 3, and Im greedy and want to chug in E V E R Y T H I N G !! It’d be a hassle if I suffer indigestion too early on. Sorry tmi.
Btw I presume you are the son or brother of Adam and Badam – peas of the same ipod? After Zadam, are we back to Adam? 🙂
