This is a recording of a conversation I had with artist Melanie Manchot at Fermynwoods Contemporary Art, 4th August 2015. I also shared a performance-lecture called ‘Life On The RUN! RUN! RUN! in the form of a Prezi, below. Together we discussed crossovers of art, running and the movement of bodies through urban and rural landscapes, and the session was chaired by artist James Steventon, long-term partner in crime in #runrunrunart, who is now Director of Fermynwoods.
Melanie Manchot is a German artist currently based in London, whose work often explores specific sites and public spaces in order to locate notions of individual and collective identities. Melanie shared extracts of her 2013 film Tracer, drawing attention to “how human agency may act upon built environments and questions the authority inherent to architectural form” through the actions of a group of parkour runners.
