In Search of A/The Point of Life

THE INVISIBLE (LAYERS OF THE) CITY: KAIDIE’S ROUGH GUIDE TO THE EXOTIC FAR EAST #3.

Erratum: ‘I was confident that I could …’ on the left hand corner here at the bottom should read ‘I was confident that I could outrun this person/any one, not because I run fast (Dear Readers, we have been there before, several times), but because I knew that if I kept going, stubbornly, silli-ly, I would, eventually. So I did.’ This sentence should alternatively say, ‘I was confident that I would not run ahead of my bloody sentences and would finish them the next time before I publish anything’. There you/I go.

Running Jack Cohen’s manor, I’d watch your ps and qs, keep your nose clean, and keep running

THANK YOU Jim for your words! But I now know that should I need extra armour, I can call on a pair of cherubs to help me fight any antagonists!

my dear kaidie, sorry for my absence lately. I always try my best to read about your wonderful journeys in our Nondon, and I read and watch your images and they always inspire me and stay with me! but we are fast runners (even if i don’t physically run myself 🙂 and I often get lost in the layers you are talking about and all kinds of ‘overlapped realities’ and grounds in London. You ask if you should run to the Thames. I’m reading the amazing and layered Peter Ackroyd’s ‘Thames, sacred river’ and thought you would like it! I’m just in the beginning but 2 sentences made me stop and I note them in a piece of paper:

‘The Thames teaches you to take time, and to view the world from a different vantage’

‘Out of oppositions comes energy, out of contrasts beauty.’

Also let me tell you a little story about Cloud 9. The sun was shinning and she thought she really needed summer shoes cause she only has her red space boots and they are too hot. Walking down the market she was happy to find some cheap (apparently good quality) silver shoes. They only display 1 shoe tho – I suppose to avoid people to be tempted to steal. Excited Cloud 9 asked to hold the shoes while she would go to the bank for some cash. When she was back her shoes were in a blue bag waiting for her and it was only when she got home that she realized she got one silver shoe and one golden shoe. She thought that was quite funny but thinking it was just a mistake she went back to the market so she could get 2 shoes of the same color. Soon she realized that was the reason they were cheap, nevertheless she asked half of her money back and kept the silver-golden shoes! really think this suits Cloud 9! so Kaidie, just wanted to let you know she has magic shoes now. not sure yet if this little event is of any relevance, for you or me or even Cloud 9, let’s see what happens next 🙂

    Dearest Cloud 9:
Thank you so much for your message- it is, as usual, always so nice to hear from you. Thank you very much for sharing with me Ackroyd’s work. I like the quotes quite a bit – it always seems that we are on the same wavelength (pun intended) 🙂
What a lovely story! Kaidie would love a pair of gold and silver shoes herself! I am quite certain that they are very shiny and pretty. What do you wear with them-a silver blouse and a pair of golden jeans, plus lots of heavy blingbling, for instance? 🙂 Like Dorothy’s magical shoes, iI suppose that you are able to run cheerily with them!
Thank you for inspiring us- as always – and thank you for running along with us, and we are all cheering for your run as well, with the exiting developments in London Ground! 🙂
    xx

one of the main problems is, we know we can feel it and see it at the same time, feel it as part of us, but can’t capture that easily, so we make art, or the artists do anyway (I am not an artist, at least, nobody has told me that I am, yet, and validation is everything in the world of make it or fake it) in the way that all prisoners will make their marks on the walls and floors, eventually customising their space. Incarcerated animals develop aesthetic traits that are symptoms of their imprisonment, such as the tiger who developed a relationship with a flower, if you stare at a wall long enough it becomes a world, if you stare hard it gets bigger, if you stare soft you may see the holes appear but they are too small to squeeze through. We make it wonderful by our inability to face up to the fact that it is a prison, a hardcore realist would dismiss this beauty as window dressing and distraction from the struggle.
